| Bio An avid genealogist for more than thirty years, Emily Croom was first introduced to genealogy during a seventh-grade field trip to the local public library: When the librarian asked us to name all our great-grandparents, I was surprised that I could name only four. Immediately I knew I had to learn about the other half. It was in this pursuit that I began my genealogical journey. Emily holds bachelor’s degrees in history and music and a master’s in history; she taught history in public schools for twelve years. Her genealogy teaching includes classes for the local community college, the local parks and recreation department, and several Elder Hostel groups; an online class; and seminars and workshops. A frequent speaker at genealogical, historical, and lineage society meetings, Emily also speaks at retirement homes, for church groups, and for community organizations. One of the most rewarding aspects of what I do is helping others get excited about their family history and their research and hearing their success stories. Emily is a member of the National Genealogical Society, the Association
of Professional Genealogists, and several local and state genealogical
societies. Besides numerous articles in magazines
and society journals, she has written a number of family
histories. Betterway Books in Cincinnati has published her widely
acclaimed books on genealogical research. |
